Jane Gray Wallis teaches green wood chair making at Humble by Nature

Jane Gray-Wallis

Jane is a coppice worker. She has always enjoyed walking in woodland and been impressed by the majesty of trees.

When a friend started teaching chair-making she asked for help sourcing local hazel rods. That led to Jane approaching the Arboretum at Westonbirt, near her home. For the last nine years she has been coppicing there, helping to restore historic coppice back to its full value.

Her chair-making friend has now retired and Jane has taken over the mantle of teaching this fantastic skill.
